PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve loading capacity to an engine as well as to prevent generation of hitting sound and abrasion sound by restricting the sudden operation in opening and closing of an intake/exhaust valve. SOLUTION: An armature 30, opening and closing electromagnets 31, 32, and an opening valve side spring 33 are stored in a casing 29 fixed on the upper surface of a cylinder head 21 for slidably holding an intake/exhaust valve 23. A closing valve side spring 28 is mounted elastically in the bottom surface of a holding hole 27. Two sliding cams 46, 47 respectively having first and second cam surfaces 52, 53 to be brought abutted against with first and second follower surfaces 45a, 45b are slidably stored in an approximately square and rectangular frame-shaped follower member 45 fixed in the central part of the armature through a guide rod 38.
