PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the temp. stability in the permeability and the oxidation resistance in a wet environment of the subject alloy by allowing it to have a specified compsn. contg. Ni, Cr, Co, Mn, O, S and N, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. SOLUTION: This alloy is composed of, by weight, 34 to 40% Ni, 7 to 10% Cr, 0.5 to 3% Co, 0.1 to 1% Mn, <=0.007% O, <=0.002% S <=0.004% N, where N+S+O: <=0.01%, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The alloy is suitably used for the production of a magnetic yoke, particularly for the production of the stator of a microstep motor for a clock. Ni as a constituent element imparts sufficient saturation magnetic flux density and permeability. Cr improves its oxidation resistance. Co imparts the sufficient temp. stability of the permeability thereto. Mn has the role of deoxidizing the alloy and fixing S. O, S and N are impurities disadvantageous to its magnetic properties and are therefore reduced as possible.
