PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel powder for internal electrode of multilayered ceramic capacitor, capable of producing a multilayered ceramic capacitor at respectively minimized rates of occurrence of structural defects and inferior electrostatic capacity, and a method for evaluating the nickel powder with respect to the propriety of its use for internal electrode with superior discrimination property. SOLUTION: The powder has average particle size (μm) and true density (g/cm3) which satisfy the following two inequalities: (A) 0.1<=(average particle size)<=1.0; (B) (true density) >=-0.39×(average particle size)2+0.99×(average particle size)+8.02. Further, in the method of evaluation, the average particle size (μm) and true density (g/cm3) of the nickel powder are measured respectively. The nickel powder is evaluated to be proper for use in the internal electrode of a multilayered ceramic capacitor if the resultant measured values satisfy the above two inequalities (A) and (B); while it is evaluated to be improper for use in the internal electrode unless they satisfy at least either of the two inequalities (A) and (B).
