PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective corrosion treatment method of copper and copper alloy capable of reducing a production cost and a fin and tube type heat exchanger which uses a copper tube or copper alloy tube subjected to the protective corrosion treatment and has excellent corrosion resistance. SOLUTION: The protective corrosion treatment method of copper consists in subjecting the inside surface of the copper tube 1 to negative polarization in an alkaline aqueous solution having a pH ranging from 9 to 12, then forming an oxidized film on the inside surface of the copper tube 1 by positive polarization. The positive polarization and the negative polarization are effected by inserting a polyvinyl chloride tube 3 which has a through-hole and is inserted with a counter electrode 2 into the copper tube 1 and impressing voltage to the counter electrode 2 and the copper tube 1.
