PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a prophylactic or a therapeutic agent capable of preventing malignant alteration of cancer, converting malignant cancer into benign cancer and thereby making the cancer treatable and useful for prophylaxis and treatment of the cancer, especially undifferentiated type cancer by including a specific inhibitor. SOLUTION: This prophylactic or therapeutic agent is obtained by including a p38 inhibitor. The inhibitor is preferably a compound obtained by a screening method comprising (A) a step of culturing a cancerated cell in the presence or absence of a compound to be tested and (B) a step of judging the differentiated state after the passage of a prescribed time and having the prophylactic or therapeutic activity. For example, a compound represented by the formula or its pharmacologically acceptable salt can be cited. The cancerated cell in the step A is preferably a cancerated cell in which the p38 tyrosine phosphorylation is accelerated. The oral administration with a tablet, etc., or the parenteral administration with a parenteral injection, etc., can be cited as the form of the prophylactic or therapeutic agent. The pharmaceutical preparation is produced by a known method using an excipient, etc.
