PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a purification method for glycidol that can prevent the glycidol from polymerizing and deteriorating and can recover glycidol in high yield. SOLUTION: When glycidol is recovered from a crude reaction mixture resulting from the epoxidation of allyl alcohol with an organic hydroperoxide in the presence of a vanadium catalyst, the crude reaction mixture is treated with an aqueous solution of an alkali metal carbonate or bicarbonate in a temperature range of from 0 to 60 deg.C to effect coprecipitation of the vanadium catalyst dissolved in the aqueous solution and the coprecipitate is removed from the reaction system, then the objective glycidol is recovered by distillation.
