PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide both a safety function and a cleaning function by removably arranging a member having a brush on a deck, and providing an energizing device so that the brush always contacts with a handrail. SOLUTION: A cartridge 10 is removably arranged on a deck 2. A brush 11 is removably set on an installing stand 10a of this cartiridge 10, and a spring 12 is arranged inside to always energize the brush 11 upward. A cutout 10b is arranged in a lower part of the cartiridge 10 to be formed as a structure that a safety switch 20 enters this cutout 10b when inserted into the deck 2. In this constitution, when the brush 11 is set in the cartiridge 10 and is inserted into the deck 2, a surface of a handrail 1 can be always cleaned. When a passenger's hand is going to stretch out to the deck 2, the brush 11 is pushed downward against spring force of the spring 12, and since the installing stand 10a pushes the safety switch 20 to stop a man conveyor, the passenger is kept in safety.
