PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent the overlap-feeding of paper sheets, and correctly feed only one paper sheet. SOLUTION: A stopper 12 is arranged on a downstream side in a paper feeding direction than the abutting position between a paper feeding roller 6 and a separating pad 9 in a paper sheet carrying path, moves in a direction for abutting on the peripheral surface of the roller 6 at timing for descending a plate 1, to abut on the peripheral surface of the roller 6 with nipping one paper sheet, pressedly contacts a paper sheet positioned with the roller 6 between so as to surely supply carrying force to the paper sheet from the peripheral surface of the roller 6, and also prevents the passing of the paper sheet other than a paper sheet positioned at the uppermost part of plural paper sheets fed at one time, to prevent the passing of the plural paper sheets to the downstream side of the stopper 12, thereby preventing the overlap-feeding of paper sheets.
