PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately correct a main scanning magnification at low cost without enlarging a frequency jitter of an image clock and to markedly suppress image shift at a portion having added sub-pixels. SOLUTION: A controller 1000 detects a scanning width of each image forming section based on a detected result by an optical sensor. A part of a cycle of an image clock is varied while a laser scanner is scanning across an image region by a clock generating section 21 having added sub-pixels on the basis of the detected result, then an image clock having an amount of change of frequency by a unit of time which is smaller than the image clock of which the cycle is varied is outputted from a PLL circuit 22.
