<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitter and an optical receiver both of which communicate information using a visible light for an illumination and communicate the information keeping a dark state within an illuminated space, and to provide an optical transmission system and an optical communication system both of which use the optical transmitter. <P>SOLUTION: The optical transmitter 2 includes a white-color luminous element 7 to emit a white light, conducts the illumination by the white light, and transmits the information by modulating the white light according to the information. The optical transmitter 2 includes an infrared LED 11 to emit an infrared light when the white-color luminous element 7 is switched off and a LED driver to transmit the information by modulating the infrared light according to the information, further.
