<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for an n-type thermoelectric element which can obtain an n-type thermoelectric element generating a large electromotive force even in a low-temperature region. <P>SOLUTION: The composition for the n-type thermoelectric element used as a material for the n-type thermoelectric element 3 is formed by adding at least one kind of metal substance selected from among Zn, Ba, Mg, Sr and Sn to CaMnO<SB>3</SB>containing 40-60 mol% Ca and 40-60 mol% Mn so that the total Ca and Mn can be 100 mol% in a metal element ratio. In this case, the metal substance of only 0.1-50 mol% in total converted into element for the total 100 mol% of Ca and Mn is added to the CaMnO<SB>3</SB>containing Ca and Mn in the above ratio. In this way, an absolute value of Seebeck coefficient α can be increased in a low-temperature region. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
