<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source lamp cooling system in which the effect of pressure variation on a lamp temperature is suppressed with simple constitution, the effect of clogging and leakage in a flow passage on the lamp temperature can be prevented and the reliability of the light emission operation of the lamp with respect to the pressure variation is high, and to provide a projection type display apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The cooling system has a diaphragm type air compressor 31, an injection section which directly injects the cooled air to a portion to be cooled of a light source lamp within a lamp unit 10, a pressure detection section 43 which detects the pressure of the cooling air via a pressure sensor 42 inserted into a pipe, air piping which connects the air compressor 31 and the injection section to each other, and a lamp controller which controls the light out of the light source lamp in correspondence to the pressure of the air detected in the pressure detection section 43. The air compressor 31 is driven at a high control frequency and a silicon tube which is internally hollow and has flexibility is used as the air piping and therefore, the pulsation of the air is suppressed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
