PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receipt printer for issuing receipts in a form that is easy to handle for a shopper, by folding receipt paper without spreading printed information. SOLUTION: A folding mechanism 14 having a first element 15 on the upstream side of a conveyance route, and a second element 16 on the downstream side is disposed on the conveyance route for connecting a paper-holding section for a receipt to a discharge section for guiding the receipt paper 5. The receipt printer has a turn control means for rotating, driving, controlling the second element 16 of the folding mechanism 14. The receipt printer conveys the receipt paper 5, after printing to the second element 16, restrains the receipt paper 5 to the conveyance route, folds the receipt paper 5 by turning and driving the second element 16 until it joins the first element 15, then returns the second element 16 to an initial position, releases the receipt paper 5, and conveys it along the conveyance route.
