The problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide a composition that has positive dielectric anisotropy (Δε), has a liquid-crystal phase in a wide temperature range, low viscosity, good solubility at low temperature, high specific resistance and voltage retention rate, and stability with respect to heat and light, and, through the use of said composition, to furthermore provide with good yield an IPS-type (FFS-type), TN-type or the like liquid-crystal display element that has excellent display quality and is not liable to produce burn-in, dropping marks, or other display defects. The present invention provides: a composition containing two or more compounds represented by the general formula (i) and one or more compounds represented by the general formula (ii); and also a liquid-crystal display element in which said composition is used and an IPS element or FFS element in which said composition is used. |
