PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance rigidity of a chain case in which mounting holes for a variable device is formed on an intake side and an exhaust side respectively.SOLUTION: A chain case 20 mounted on an engine body of an internal combustion engine for accommodating a timing chain includes: a first mounting hole 21 for mounting an intake side variable device; and a second mounting hole 22 for mounting an exhaust side variable device. When a direction toward an inside surface 24 opposing to the engine body from an outside surface 23 of the chain case 20 is made to be a depth direction, between a first mounting surface 26 on which the first mounting hole 21 is provided and a second mounting surface 27 on which the second mounting hole 22 is provided on the outside surface 23 of the chain case 20, a step 25 is provided for making the position in the depth direction of the first mounting surface 26 and the position in the depth direction of the second mounting surface 27 different.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
