In a display apparatus of a processing program or various information, by specifying a display mode of a character string matched with a character string to be arched, it is possible to display different character strings in different display modes. The display apparatus includes: a search instruction information input unit for inputting a character string for searching an arbitrary character string in a specified memory region and an arbitrary display mode for emphasizing a matched portion when the input character string is extracted; and a search display control unit for performing a character string search and controlling the display mode according to the search instruction information which has been input by the search instruction information input unit. The search display control unit is formed so as to emphasize, when displayed, the character string searched in the specified memory region in the specified arbitrary display mode. Moreover, there is provided an emphasis release processing unit for specifying an arbitrary display mode for a part of the emphasized information to release the emphasis.
