The backrest has backrest part with a lower extension projecting in a transverse direction. Another backrest part (6) is laid at the lower extension and is arranged adjacent to the former backrest part. The backrest part (6) is visibly lockable to a locking device at the former backrest part and is forwardly foldable after release around an axis of rotation. A crash locking device is not activated, during slower forward folding of the backrest part (6) and is activated during faster forward folding or twisting of the backrest part (6), during a frontal crash.
