PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication method, an authentication device and a program of adopting biological authentication algorithm particularly using a phase-only correlation, in the authentication method, to provide the authentication device and the program. SOLUTION: A phase range including phase information on collating image data is determined by a real part and an imaginary part of the collating image data generated by applying two-dimensional Fourier transform to a first input image to be collated. A quantization numeric value corresponding to phase information is determined by referring to a table for storing respective phase ranges of the phase information and a corresponding quantization numeric value. A phase-only correlation function of indicating a correlation between the first and second input images is determined and outputted by applying two-dimensional inverse Fourier transform to a phase difference, by determining the quantization numeric value registered in a storage means by being predetermined similarly to the first input image to the second input image to be registered and the phase difference between phase information on registered image data and phase information on the collating image data generated by applying the two-dimensional Fourier transform to the second input image by subtracting from the quantization numeric value.
