PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device having a display unit that can be used while erected vertically and laid down laterally for which convenience of use of the device can be enhanced by preparing one cradle.SOLUTION: In an electronic device 3 having a cradle 2, and a display device 1 which can be connected to the cradle 2 while erected vertically and laid down laterally, one of side surfaces contacting the back surface of the display unit 1 is provided with a connector 11 which is connectable to a connector 25 provided to the cradle 2 while erected vertically and laid down laterally. The cradle 2 is provided with a sensor 26 for detecting whether the connection of the display device 1 to the cradle 2 is the connection under the vertically erected arrangement or the connection under the laterally laid-down arrangement. The connection of the connection terminal of the cradle-side connector 25 to a signal line of a circuit in the cradle is switched by a connection switching circuit 28 in connection with whether the connection of the display device 1 to the cradle 2 is the connection under the vertically-erected arrangement or the connection under the laterally laid-down arrangement, whereby the electronic device 3 is made adaptable to the vertically-erected arrangement and the laterally laid-down arrangement of the display device 1 by one cradle 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9 |
