PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the resistance of a seal liquid at the time of discharge of ink. SOLUTION: A heat 10 is equipped with the ink discharge orifice 12 provided to an ink discharge surface, a discharge means 14 and an ink sump 18 for supplying ink to the discharge chamber 16. The discharge means 14 draws in a seal liquid so as to separate the same into the seal liquid 22A positioned at the ink discharge orifice 12 and the seal liquid 22B positioned around the ink discharge orifice 12 to discharge ink in this state. Therefore, when a plurality of the ink discharge orifices are provided, the drawing-in of the seal liquid and the discharge of ink can be performed at every discharge orifice and, as a result, the seal liquid can be drawn in without being lost and ink can be discharge in the optimum drawn-in state at every discharge orifice.
