PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming the coat of a display plate in which its butt end part is coated surely with a glaze, and the glaze layer on the surface is uniform in thickness. SOLUTION: A process in which a synthetic resin material containing a powdered glaze is applied on a stainless steel plate 1, a process in which the resin material of the coated plate 1 is heated at 300-450 deg.C to be carbonized, and a process in which the carbonized resin material is heated at 700-850 deg.C to be eliminated are provided. By applying the resin material containing the glaze on a butt end part and burning it, the stainless steel surface of the butt end part is coated surely and to be prevented from being exposed. A glaze layer is formed on the surface of a display plate to be uniform in thickness.
