PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display element and a display device which are miniaturized by utilizing an electrowetting phenomenon and which efficiently switch the display by variation of light quantity with a simple construction. SOLUTION: The display element, which switches the display by variation of light quantity passing through a mask, is provided with a first and a second supporting bodies and a first liquid 106 and a conductive or polar second liquid 107 hermetically sealed in a space formed between the first and the second supporting bodies and mutually immiscible. By applying voltage to the second liquid 107, the shape of the boundary between the first and the second liquids 106, 107 is changed so as to control the light quantity passing through the mask 109. |
