Communication apparatus for providing a wire-less two-way audio link between a person and audio apparatus is described, along with a corresponding communication method. Preferably the communication apparatus is in the form of a head-set and base unit providing hands-free operation of a mobile phone. The base unit and head-set include miniature RF transceivers and communicate with each other on a common frequency channel in time division duplex (TDD) fashion. Preferably the frequency channel is in the region of 2400MHz , avoiding the typical operating frequencies of mobile phones, and the radiated power from the base unit and head set is in the 10 microwatt range. Thus, a short range, low-power, wireless link to the mobile phone is provided, and potential health risks to a person arising from mobile phone use can be avoided. <IMAGE> |
