<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain multiple use sterilization which saves energy and rises a temperature a little by high brightness UV-C luminescence using an electroluminescent fiber cable, and to obtain various decorative effects by the mixed use of different colored lights. <P>SOLUTION: The luminescent device consists of an electroluminescent fiber cable having a constant length and composed of a core and a cladding layer coating the surrounding area of the core, and a light source portion mounted in the end of the electroluminescent fiber cable. In the light source portion, since a LED light emitting element of high output of 0.5 W or more having the wavelength in the range of 100 nm-280 nm is mounted facing the end face of the electroluminescent fiber cable, the longitudinal coverage in the length direction of the optical fiber of the light irradiated from the light source is long, so it is possible to perform uniform and sufficient UV-C light irradiation from the perimeter side over the whole length direction of the optical fiber. Consequently, full sterilization not inferior to that in conventional units can be achieved and various decorative effects can also be obtained by mixing different colored lights. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
