PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector of foreign matters in a fluid pressure circuit, capable of not only detecting foreign matters of metallic bodies but also of non-metal bodies. SOLUTION: A pump 13, for supplying a working fluid from a tank 11 to a fluid pressure circuit 12, is driven by an electric motor 14. A photosensor 16 is provided with respect to a return passage 15 from the fluid pressure circuit 12. The photosensor 16 comprises a light source 16a projecting light, such as infrared rays, via a transparent section of the return passage 15; and a light-receiving unit 16b arranged facing the light source 16a. The light-receiving unit 16b is connected to a controller 17, and the controller 17 is connected to the electric motor 14 of the pump 13.
