The invention relates to the field of water supply. The claimed system comprises at least one primary leak detector, at least one secondary leak detector, and a controller, which is electrically connected to the primary and secondary leak detectors and also to an electric control drive of a stop valve. The controller is designed to be capable of transmitting to the electric control drive of a stop valve a command to shut off a water supply pipe if there is a flow of water through a primary leak detector but no flow of water through a secondary leak detector. This provides for a high degree of sensitivity and protection along the entire length of the pipes of a local water supply system.
