PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode low in hydrogen overvoltage and hardly generating deterioration of a catalyst layer by reverse current generated during stopping an electrolyte tank.SOLUTION: There is provided a cathode for hydrogen generation consisting of a conducive substrate and a catalyst layer on the conducive substrate, where the catalyst layer contains a ruthenium element, a cerium element, an element of a transition metal which may take trivalence excluding ruthenium and cerium and an aluminum element.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
