PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promote growth of a root 30 of a plant.SOLUTION: A method for cultivating a root 30 in a ridge 50 of plants includes: a water level detection step S1 of detecting a water level W of a water tank 7; a growth state acquisition step S2 of acquiring a length L of the root 30; a distance acquisition step S3 of acquiring a distance I between a tip position of the root 30 and a water surface 2a of the water tank 7 positioned below the root 30 on the basis of the water level W detected in the water level detection step S1 and the length L of the root 30 acquired in the growth state acquisition step S2; and a water level adjusting step S4 of adjusting the distance I by adjusting the water level W of the water tank 7.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
