PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of efficiently producing a melanin precursor containing cysteinyl dopa, and to provide a method of efficiently producing a melanin containing pheomelanin.SOLUTION: A production method of a melanin precursor containing cysteinyl dopa comprises a following step (1): (1) in a mixture that contains an enzyme with catechol-oxidase activity or a microorganism containing the enzyme, cysteine, and DOPA and/or tyrosine, and in which DOPA and/or tyrosine and cysteine are compounded at a molar ratio (DOPA and/or tyrosine: cysteine) is 1:0.5-4, oxidizing DOPA and/or tyrosine to convert into cysteinyl dopa; and a production method of a melanin containing pheomelanin comprises a following step (3): (3) treating the melanin precursor containing the cysteinyl dopa obtained by the above-mentioned method in an alkali condition and in presence of oxygen to convert into pheomelanin.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
