An absorptive article which has a barrier sheet for isolating bodily wastes and the skin of the wearer from each other and in which the opening area of a communication section formed in the barrier sheet is prevented from being reduced. The absorptive article includes the barrier sheet (3) provided on the human body side surface of a chassis so as to lie in a crotch region and formed so as to be separable from the chassis, and also includes a pair of leakage prevention cuffs (4) provided on the human body side surface of the barrier sheet (3) and extending in the front-rear direction (Z). The barrier sheet (3) and the leakage prevention cuffs (4) are joined to each other via joining sections (48). The joining sections (48) are located at the leakage prevention cuffs (4) at their free edges separable from the chassis and are superposed on barrier sheet elastic members (39).
