PROCESSING REQUESTS FOR CONTENT PAGES FROM DEEP-LINKING VISITORS

A server (30) hosts a site comprising a plurality of content pages (33, 34) in a hierarchical manner beneath a main page (32). When server (30) receives a request to access a page which is at a level below the main page it determines whether the request originates from a user who has been referred from another site (a deep-link). Server (30) allows access to the requested page and modifies the content of the requested page. The page can be modified to include content based on the identity of the referring site and can include links back to pages of the referring site. Server (30) may allow restricted access to the requested page to that user for a limited period of time or a limited number of accesses.
