In the case of a closure (1) for a container (9) having a content (8), in particular a bottle or the like made from plastic, glass or the like, with a cap (2), in particular made of plastic, for sealing connection to a neck (7) of the container (9), which neck has an edge (6), with at least one knife ed ge (11), which is arranged around a central axis of the cap in the region of th e clear width (D) of the neck (7) and is intended for severing a sealing foil (12), which is sealed onto the edge (6), during axial displacement of the at least one knife edge (11) through the sealing foil (12), a screw cap (19) which can be screwed onto and can be unscrewed from the cap (2) is provided, during the screwing-on of which the at least one knife edge (11) can be displaced in the direction of the sealing foil (12), wherein this screw cap (19) has an initial screwing position, in which the sealing foil (12) is sti ll undamaged, and, after further screwing, an end-stop screwing position, in which the sealing foil (12) is pierced by the at least one knife edge (11). The screw cap (19) has a pouring and/or drinking opening (22) in the manner of a sports cap. An axial plunger (25) which has the at least one knife edge (1 1) is arranged centrally between the cap (2) and the screw cap (19) and is guid ed displaceably in a coaxial guide (26) of the transverse wall (18) of the cap (2).
