<p>The invention relates to an intake system (10) for an internal combustion engine (12) having a plurality of cylinders (14). The system comprises a plurality of intake portions (16, 18), wherein each intake portion comprises an associated secondary pipe (20, 22) connected to an associated primary chamber (24, 26), wherein a largest cross-sectional area of the primary chamber is substantially greater than an average cross-sectional area of the associated secondary pipe. The primary chamber is connected to at least one primary pipe (28, 30) adapted to communicate with at least one cylinder. At least two of the intake portions are in fluid communication via a first fluid communication means (48) comprising at least one first passage (50). The first fluid communication means extends between the respective primary chambers. According to the invention, the first fluid communication means exhibits a substantially constant cross-section for each axial location in said means.</p> |
