PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treated organic pigment usable in the field requiring higher transparency or higher contrast ratio. SOLUTION: The treated organic pigment is formed by kneading an organic pigment with a mixture of a styrene-maleic acid half ester resin having 150-300 mg KOH/g acid value in an amount corresponding to 1-30 mass% based on the organic pigment with a water-soluble inorganic salt and a water-soluble solvent without substantially dissolving the water-soluble inorganic salt and then removing the water-soluble inorganic salt and the water-soluble solvent.
