<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a jam removal mechanism for separating an image carrier, such as a photoreceptor drum, and a transfer body, such as a transfer roller, when a jam is removed. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a developing unit 5 and a fixing unit 18 disposed so as to be detachable from the image forming apparatus; the photoreceptor drum 6; the transfer roller 7; a transfer roller bearing 14 and a transfer spring 15, which bring the transfer roller 7 into firm contact with the photoreceptor drum 6. Near to the developing unit 5 and the bearing of the transfer roller 7, a first swing arm 16 is disposed so as to swing around the swing shaft 16a. Side by side, to a fixing roller 18 and the transfer roller bearing 14, a second swing arm 20 is disposed. The first swing arm 16 is engageable with the developing unit 5 and the bearing 14. The second swing arm 20 is engageable with a fixing unit 18 and the baring 14. A linking spring 22 is attached to the first and second swing arms 16 and 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
