PURPOSE: A reference signal transmitting and receiving method and device of a wireless communication system are provided to determine channel status information by considering the variation of transmission power. CONSTITUTION: The application of muting is determined in a corresponding subframe. The positions of a portion of source elements for channel status information and the positions of a portion of source elements for the muting are switched in the subframe. A reference signal for the channel status information is transmitted from source elements of a reference signal for the channel status information. The muting is applied to the source elements for the muting. Unused power caused by the muting is added to the reference signal for the channel status information.
