The present invention relates to a rotary kiln type thermal desorption apparatus. According to the present invention, a firebrick, a bucket, and a chain are provided in a rotary kiln for soil purification such that contact efficiency is suggested by section and soil pollutants can be efficiently desorbed. To this end, the rotary kiln type thermal desorption apparatus for soil purification provided with a bucket and a chain includes a rotatable drum main body into which polluted soil is transported in a length direction, a plurality of supporting means positioned below the drum main body and supporting the drum main body to be capable of rotating, and driving means provided with a driving motor to transmit a rotational force to the drum main body. The apparatus of the present invention further includes: a first drying unit performing preliminary drying on the polluted soil in the drum main body and provided with a plurality of first buckets disposed at a distance on an inner peripheral edge of the drum main body and in surface contact for continuous polluted soil dropping; a second drying unit performing secondary drying on the polluted soil moved from the first drying unit and provided with a plurality of second buckets disposed at a distance on the inner peripheral edge of the drum main body for lifting and dropping of the polluted soil; a low-temperature desorption unit where a plurality of chains are disposed on the drum main body so that the polluted soil moved through the second drying unit is crushed and subjected to contact for thermal desorption; and a high-temperature desorption unit forming a fire-resistant coating layer on an inner surface of the drum main body so that high-temperature heat can be applied to the polluted soil moved through the low-temperature desorption unit.
