The present invention relates to a navel area detecting method based on a body structure capable of detecting a navel area which is usefully used to detect an adult image by analyzing an input image. The navel area detecting method comprises: (a) step for extracting a skin area from the input image by using color distribution of skin; (b) step for detecting an eye area and a mouth area from the extracted skin area, and extracting a face area by using the detected eye and mount areas; (c) step for obtaining a nipple candidate area by using a nipple map in the skin area, excluding an area including the face area from the nipple candidate area, and detecting a nipple area by applying a geometric feature and a color filter to the nipple candidate area; (d) step for processing an edge and a chroma to the input image, obtaining a binary edge image and a binary chroma image, and extracting an area, which is overlapped in the binary edge image and the binary chroma image, as a navel candidate area; and (e) step for extracting the navel candidate area, which is adjacent to a straight line which is perpendicular to the center of another straight line connecting centers of the two nipple areas extracted in the (c) step, as a navel area. The navel area detecting method is provided to detect the navel candidate area by using the edge and the chroma, and the nipple area; and finally extract the navel area by using the nipple area and the geometric feature of the body structure, thereby reliably detecting the navel area by using the body structure. |
