The present invention relates to an electronic device control method for a vehicle using a hand gesture and a motion detection device realizing the same. More particularly, the electronic device control method comprises the steps of: by the motion detection device, 1) detecting the hand gesture of a user in a detectable region of the motion detection device; 2) dividing the hand gesture of the user into a first operation within an effective detection region having a preset width of the detectable region and a second operation outside of the effective detection region; and 3) determining a hand gesture signal based on vector information of the first and second operations. In step 3), the motion detection device determines whether the operation vector of the second operation detected outside of the effective detection region is an ineffective signal, and determines the operation vector of the first operation within the effective detection region as an effective signal. According to the electronic device control method for a vehicle using a hand gesture and the motion detection device realizing the same proposed in the present invention, the motion detection device detects the hand gesture of the user in the detectable region, divides the hand gesture of the user into the first operation within the effective detection region having the preset width of the detectable region and the second operation outside of the effective detection region, and determines a hand gesture signal based on the vector information of the first and second operations to accurately detect various gestures which a passenger forms using a lower portion of his/her wrist on his/her arm rest, and to enable the passenger to input a desired gesture only with a small operation of his/her hand. |
