FIELD: medicine.SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to use of a gel composition, comprising melatonin or a derivative thereof in a proportion of 2.5 % to 5 % w/v for treating and/or preventing mucositis, said gel composition is locally administered in the mucosal surface.
