PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing reel having a magnetic brake means that can generate significant brake force.SOLUTION: A fishing reel includes: a spool 3 that rotates as a fishing line is sent out; a spool shaft 21 provided so as to associate with the spool 3 to be in a relatively rotational relationship with the spool; and a magnetic brake device 40 provided between the spool 3 and the spool shaft 21 and that applies brake force to the spool 3. The magnetic brake device 40 includes: one or more first brake plates 45 rotatably provided in cooperation with the spool 3; one or more second brake plates 47 rotatably provided in cooperation with the spool shaft 21 and positioned opposite to the first brake plate 45; a storage space S1 for storing the first and second brake plates 45,47; a magnetic reactive friction material filled in the storage space S1; and a magnetic field generating means 50 that can generate different magnetic field to the magnetic reactive friction material.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
