<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which is configured to change reproducing methods between an edge part and a non-edge part, and can be improved in gray scale reproducibility more. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus which processes the non-edge part included in an image to be output by a dither method and processes the edge part by a one-dot PWM method forms a non-edge pattern processed by using the dither method on an image carrier (S11), and also generates a non-edge γ curve from a detection result of the density of the formed pattern (S12, S13). Then an edge pattern processed by the one-dot PWM method is formed on an image carrier (S15), and an edge γ curve is generated from a detection result of the density of the formed pattern (S16, S17). When the image is formed, γ correction is performed for the non-edge part by using the non-edge γ curve and for the edge part by using the edge γ curve. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
