A conveyor for a rolling article (10) includes a translating mat (1) having resilient tread bars (4) on a base (9) for urging the article in a translating direction X transverse to the rolling direction, which tread bars extend parallel to the rolling direction, which tread bars extend parallel to the rolling direction and protrude from the mat in a direction inclined at an acute angle to the translating direction. The conveyor is particularly suited to a shell feed mechanism for a gun magazine, the mat being used to maintain rolling shells in contact with a single guide wall. Alternatively, the tread bars project from the surface of at least one roller and a sheet is driven over the surface of the one roller, or between the surfaces of two adjacent rollers (cf. Fig. 6), which may be drive rollers, the sheet being urged laterally by the deflection of the tread bars. <IMAGE> |
