Provided are: a compound represented by general formula (1); a liquid crystal composition which contains this compound; and a liquid crystal display element which uses this liquid crystal composition. A liquid crystal composition, which exhibits high Tni, low viscosity (η), large ∆n and high miscibility in liquid crystal compositions and has chemically high stability at the same time, is able to be obtained by using a compound represented by general formula (1) as a component of the liquid crystal composition. Consequently, the compound is very useful as a constituent component of a liquid crystal composition for liquid crystal display elements that are required to have a fast response. |
