A tine assembly (38) for a cultivator (20) includes a first tine member (48) having a plurality of radially extending non-planar tines (70). At least two tines (70) on each tine member (48) differ in shape from the remaining tines (70). The tine assembly (38) may include a second tine member (52) which is shaped like a mirror-image of the first tine member (48). When assembled on a shaft (28), the second tine member (52) is off-set from the first tine member (48) so that tines (80) on alternating tine members (48, 52) contact the ground as the shaft (28) rotates.
