<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal continuously variable transmission, in which dynamic torque of a power roller can be reduced using a groove formed on an end surface in a rotating axis direction of a retainer to apply torque to the retainer. <P>SOLUTION: The toroidal continuously variable transmission has a thrust rolling bearing 24 rotatably supporting the power roller 11. The thrust rolling bearing 24 has an inner ring as the power roller 11, an outer ring 28, and a plurality of rollers 26 rotating between the inner ring and the outer ring 28, and further has the retainer 27 rotatably holding the plurality of rollers 26. A recess 71 is provided on a surface opposed to the power roller 11 of the retainer 27. On an inner surface of the recess 71, an oil receiving surface 71d is provided on which lubricating oil spattered in the rotating direction of the power roller 11 due to the rotation hits and which thereby causes the retainer 27 to produce a force component in the rotating direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
