BROAD SPECTRUM ANTIOXIDANT PEPTIDES CONTAINING HISTIDINE-LYSINE AND TYROSINE RESIDUE

Broad spectrum antioxidant peptides containing histidine-lysine and tyrosine residues are provided to inhibit oxidation of low-density lipoprotein(LDL) without toxicity, so that they are useful for prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases caused by oxidation of low-density lipoprotein such as arteriosclerosis. The antioxidant peptide contains a histidine-lysine residue located at a second or third site from the N-terminal and a tyrosine residue in the C-terminal, wherein the antioxidant peptide contains 4-12 amino acids; and at least one amino acid of the antioxidant peptide amino acids is D-form. A composition for prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, metabolic disease or aging disease comprises the antioxidant peptide as an effective ingredient.
