<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing spinel type lithium manganese composite oxide particles having small specific surface areas, high particle density, high particle filling density, uniform lattice constants, few coarse particles, and a uniform particle diameter distribution; and a lithium ion secondary battery using the spinel type lithium manganese composite oxide particles as a positive electrode material. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the spinel type lithium manganese composite oxide particles comprises the following processes (a)-(c): (a) a process for preparing a spray dry mixture dispersion liquid with a solid component concentration of 5-50 wt.% by mixing manganese dioxide particles (A), a lithium compound, and a compound of one or more elements selected from specific elements M except Li and Mn at a specific atomic ratio Li:Mn:M; (b) a process for spray drying the dispersion liquid; and (c) a burning process. The manganese dioxide particles (A) are prepared so that a mean primary particle diameter (D<SB POS="POST">1</SB>), a mean secondary particle diameter (D<SB POS="POST">2</SB>), and a secondary particle diameter distribution (D<SB POS="POST">2</SB>)/(D<SB POS="POST">1</SB>) fall within specific ranges. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
