PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multifunction printer which can make a copy of a photograph with a date without printing a date portion and is simple in constitution, and to provide a method of controlling the same. SOLUTION: The control method of the multifunction printer includes a process of detecting the existence of a date region when making a copy of a photograph; and a process that, when the date region is detected, a rectangular portion containing no date region out of an image region of the image data read from the photo is set as a printing region and then is recorded.
