PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a finder optical system for achieving the reduction of weight of a lens and further having excellent performance over a larger visibility adjusting range in an electronic view finder using a little larger image display device of about 2.5 to 4 inches, and an imaging apparatus using the same. SOLUTION: In the finder optical system, a first lens L<SB>1</SB>including a plastic concave aspherical lens, a second lens L<SB>2</SB>including a plastic convex aspherical lens, and a third lens L<SB>3</SB>including a plastic concave aspherical lens are arranged in order from an eye point EP side to an image surface 5, and a moving group 2 constituted of the first lens L<SB>1</SB>and the second lens L<SB>2</SB>and having positive power is constituted to integrally move along an optical axis (a) relative to a fixed group 3 constituted of the third lens L<SB>3</SB>.
